I was captivated by the idea of "connected spaces" - wooden houses with shared verandas, winding passages, and a strange coziness mixed with heavy industrial machinery. I started taking hundreds of photos and modelling little scenes: rail tracks, tiny houses perched on steel barrels, and air platforms where pipes and cabins lived side by side. I didn't know where it would lead, but the feeling stuck with me.

In 2021, I released my first game - Pnevmo-Capsula: Domiki. It was a meditative puzzle-platformer where you controlled a pneumatic capsule through layered village-like levels, solving logical puzzles with levers, switches, and newspapers. The atmosphere was praised, but the gameplay turned out to be too slow and quiet. No enemies, no danger, just peaceful contemplation. I learned my lesson: a beautiful world isn't enough - it needs tension, movement, and consequences.

I experimented with a brighter, Mario-like direction for the sequel (working title Atomoyansk), but it felt like a betrayal of the original spirit. A friend casually reminded me: "What about that strange blend of pre-revolutionary tech and Soviet heritage?" That hit home. I abandoned the colourful concept and went back to the dark, gritty aesthetics that felt right.

Around that time, I stumbled upon an article about the Soviet mobile nuclear plant TES-3 - a massive, clumsy, almost comedic piece of engineering that could get stuck in the first swamp it encountered. It was exactly the spark I needed: scale, danger, energy, and a touch of absurdity. That's when I knew what I had to build.

That's how Dieselnautica was born - a flying city-ship, a colossal scrap-metal monster thundering over toxic wastelands. Every deck, every room, every valve and pipe is hand-crafted to continue the idea of "connected spaces" from the first game, but now the whole ship itself is the level.

The core gameplay revolves around collecting lamps - the currency of this world - to pay the toll at deadly Checkpoints. If you don't gather enough, the Minister stamps your fate and hydraulic hammers crush your capsule.

Along the way, I developed my own visual style, which I call WagonPunk - a blend of industrial brutality, Soviet nostalgia, and warm, lived-in interiors. The ship is populated with quirky bio-punk citizens, but they serve as ambient colour, not the main conflict. The real struggle is against the system itself - fines, surveillance, and the ever-present threat of the Checkpoint.

Today, Dieselnautica is almost fully built in 3D, with 19 interconnected zones, all imported into Unity. The core mechanics - lamp collection, magneto-sphere pulses, stealth, obstacle courses, and the Checkpoint judgment system - are already implemented. I'm currently polishing the details and preparing for the closed beta test.

This is my second game, but the first one where I truly feel I've found my voice. The capsule is waiting. The letter must be delivered.

","published
"
⚠️NOTICE: The game is currently in active development. A closed beta test is coming very soon — stay tuned!

📢 Hello creators! I'd really appreciate any coverage of the announcement.
